Apologia

I must start this post with a heartfelt and sincere apology. To all those who find the lighter side of fantasy art offensive you maybe should stop reading now, and to those who think you should never be over influenced by another illustration then you’re really not going to like this ๐Ÿ˜‰

Okay, the explanation…. I was trying to come up with an idea for animals in armour as this is the theme over on John Howe’s website. So I sketched a few chickens in armour, and tried to think what they would look like in different situations. From there is was a fairly obvious step to take a well known illustration of someone in armour and replace them with chickens. The first piece that came to mind was Legolas and Gimli at Helm’s Deep and from there the rest was easy, here is the original illustration –

and here is Chuckolas and Gimchuck at Helm’s Deep –

I’ll run away and hide now ๐Ÿ™‚

Hmm, I’m not sure which one I like best? Maybe it’s the 2nd one, because it makes the 1st one look so good. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, let’s hope you don’t rue the day that the chickens finally come home… to roost, on this one. Or, something like that. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks James, I like the first one best, I think the lighting and technique is a little better than mine ๐Ÿ™‚
