Driving home from my last night shift of the week and the sunrise was really distracting, the desire to sleep was pushed aside by the desire to take a photograph or two. A short distance from work the Sun was already poking above the Pennines but there was little in the foreground that was working so I carried on resigned to the fact that it wasn’t working today. This morning I popped round by Long Meg, mainly because I needed a reference photo or two for a painting I’m planning. When I returned home I started playing with one of the photographs on the computer and ended up making a print of it π

The only benefit I can see for working silly hours is the sights you see driving too and from work. My journey home this morning was quiet (as most sensible folk were in bed), and the views inspiring. I almost wish I didn’t need to sleep so I could get to painting a misty Shire scene, as it is I’ll post the photographs from my drive home and then crash out for a few hours.

Returning home I paused to watch the mist swirling around in the valley below, there wasn’t much light so I drove on a bit further, then I spotted a break in the cloud, the mist had thinned a little but it still looked rather nice π
