I started a pen & ink drawing of Rannerdale Knotts as it’s a view I’ve not tried before. So obviously I picked up the watercolours for this pen & ink π anyway, after a bit of splashing paint around I had finished and wasn’t to annoyed by the result which was a nice change. I took a quick scan of it then went to work. Now I look at it on the computer I’m not sure why I thought it was okay, time to go back to the drawing board…

I thought I’d paint another landscape as it’s been a while since I’ve worked on one, so I decided on the view looking down over Buttermere and Crummock. The intention when I started was to block a few areas in with acrylic to get the feel of the piece then finish it in oils, in the end I used acrylics for the entire painting as it was ‘working’ at the time. Started off doodling on a large sheet of paper to practice some sketching techniques, and the doodle grew and grew until I finished off a drawing of Castlerigg Stone Circle – normally I just focus on a stone or two so completing the full circle is unusual for me π

We called out for some supplies a couple of days ago and decided to take a couple of photographs of Blencathra (and Castlerigg Stone Circle) while we were out. Looking forward to printing them up and maybe using one or two as references for a painting.
