Decided to take the camera to work last night and snapped a couple of shots from the balcony…

A few hours later and I made another attempt at photographing Comet Ison as it was well above the horizon yet still stuck in the murk of Appleby’s light pollution. It took a bit of squinting at the screen but now I see it I know what to look for on the other shots

Finally on my way home, bleary eyed, I stopped to take a photo of the Moon as the Earthshine was rather strong this morning.

We went out this morning to try out the new camera, the light wasn’t brilliant but the camera was fun to use.

Appleby North

As you may or may not know I work at various locations on the Settle to Carlisle railway, last night I was again working at Appleby North signal box and I thought it would be a good opportunity to take a photograph or two.I had of course to be careful that taking these photographs did not interfere with my ‘work’ which makes it a bit harder to concentrate on the photography

Notes – It’s called Appleby North because at one time there were a number of signal boxes dotted around Appleby.
All photographs were taken at a time when there would be no compromise to the safe passage of trains or personnel.
