<p>Anyway, I&#8217;ve known for a while the laptop was not feeling too good, it had a temperature and every now and then would go all wobbly for a while. I thought at first it had picked up a bug, as there have been quite a few knocking about lately, but in the end it looks like it could have been a hardware failure. So after staring at a blue screen with a list of files currently being deleted (apparently it deleted them for safety reasons as it thought they were corrupt), I tried to reinstall the system software but it did not seem to like that, perhaps I hurt it&#8217;s feelings <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p>Now I have the decision to either replace the laptop, which is going to be expensive (not that I can afford an Apple which would solve a lot of problems); or I can try buying a new hard drive and doing a fresh install of everything &#8211; however given the age of the laptop it could end up as a false economy. Decisions decisions&#8230;</p>
<p>Of course if anyone has a Macbook sitting around gathering dust just ask for my postal address, I&#8217;ll stop it cluttering up your house for you <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
