These two photographs are the result of a quick wander when I noticed the light was looking quite interesting (after a spell of grey skies ;-)). I’ve kept the colour versions handy for some Shire/Tolkien themed paintings

Driving home this morning from a quick trip into the Lakes, we took a looping route back home and stopped to take a photo of the Howgills as they don’t get the attention they deserve really The name ‘Howgill’ is another old one, it derives from the Old Norse Haugr which means hill or barrow, and Gil which means narrow valley.

Morning wanders

This morning we decided to go somewhere different for our morning wander, so we jumped in the car and headed off towards Mungrisdale. The light wasn’t brilliant, but it was still nice to be out looking at the, somewhat hazy, fells.
