Box #4 – Hugo

Graeme Skinner — Sun, 26 Apr 2026 11:02:42 +0000

I didn’t think a month after making a box for Kai’s ashes I would be making one for our Hugo’s ashes, I’m calling this his temporary ashes box as I struggled making this one – dodgy arm meant I had to do a lot of it left handed and it was awkward Anyway, the top insert is made from Maple with a footprint inset into out of resin, the sides are made from Oak. The inside of the lid has a laser engraved detail

War Dog

It’s an armour theme this month over on John Howe’s website, and I had intended doing a fairly sensible pen & ink piece, so how I came to paint this ‘war dog’ I have no idea. Hugo wasn’t too keen to model for it but luckily it didn’t take too long to paint

Woof

I’ve not had a guest blogger on here for a long time, so I’ve turned the keyboard over to Hugo…..

Woof, wooff wooof woff, woooff wooffy woof, woffy woff woof woof; bark yap woof woof woofff. Woof, wooff wooof woff, wouooff wooffy woof, woffy wouff woof woof; bark yap woof woof woofff. Woof, wooff wooof woff, woooff wooffy woof, woffy woff woof woof woof woof woofff. Woof, wooff wooof woff, woooff wooffy woof, woffy woff woof woof; bark yap woof woof woofff. Woof, wooff wooof woff, woooff wooffy woof, woffy woff woof woof; bark yap woof woof woofff.

Hugo would like to apologise for any typographic errors, he’s not used to the keyboard on the iMac.

Play Time

I was going to paint a fantasy themed piece yesterday, but for some reason decided to paint Hugo playing with his ball….

Wandering

Graeme Skinner — Thu, 08 Aug 2013 10:57:53 +0000

This morning there was mist in the valley and it felt fresh outside, which was perfect for a wander with the dog (and of course the camera ;-)).

Though I think Hugo may have started to wonder if I’d put the camera away and carry on with the morning wander at some point
