The only benefit I can see for working silly hours is the sights you see driving too and from work. My journey home this morning was quiet (as most sensible folk were in bed), and the views inspiring. I almost wish I didn’t need to sleep so I could get to painting a misty Shire scene, as it is I’ll post the photographs from my drive home and then crash out for a few hours.

Stones in the mist

I’ve been tinkering with some ideas of standing stones poking out of the mist, mainly trying to get some ideas together for a painting, still a way to go but it’s fun playing with different ideas.

…of working night shifts is the drive home in the morning, in fact it’s probably the only benefit of working nights it was only a short drive home from work this week but I did get to look over the valley towards Penrith and the Lakeland Fells in the background with a nice bit of mist to finish the view off.

Returning home I paused to watch the mist swirling around in the valley below, there wasn’t much light so I drove on a bit further, then I spotted a break in the cloud, the mist had thinned a little but it still looked rather nice

Quick post for a quick photo wandering around the pond this morning I took the camera along as the mist was rising from the water as the Sun popped up above the Pennines and I was glad I did…

That brief stop

Driving home from work the other morning the valley below was starting to fill with mist. Bleary eyed from work and in need of a sleep I couldn’t resist the temptation to stop and watch the mist build up around the trees, filling small gullies before flowing out over the fields. Thankfully I had a camera with me, so managed a few images before deciding I really should get home and sleep.

I’ll only post one image here, the rest I’m using for ‘Shire’ reference pieces
