Fvgit inreparabile tempvs – well time may be irretrievable, but at least we can record some of it as it passes us by. I was out yesterday for my morning wander before the Sun popped up over the Pennines, it was pleasant wandering in the moonlight with the wind shaking the trees just enough to dislodge a leaf or two and make the clouds hurtle by. So enjoyable was the experience that I returned home, grabbed the camera and tripod and decided to take a couple of photographs…

I know I shouldn’t have left the light on, but it was dark and Hugo (the dog) may have been frightened all alone This next one has a nice colour to it, until you realize that the orange/yellow has nothing to do with the approaching dawn but everything to do with light pollution illuminating the clouds.

After taking a few photographs I decided to try a small timelapse, it’s been a while since I tried one but it was fun to set the camera up and let it run for a while.

Stars & Planets

I set out this morning to take a couple of early photographs, it wasn’t too early to be out but it was cold. Still, I ended up getting carried away just a bit and decided to try for a panoramic of the stars & planets above the Eden Valley. There was the odd bit of cloud about but not enough to stop me trying, photographing the panoramic took only a few minutes, stitching it together was another matter

I woke fairly early and decided to check the sky, as it was clear I popped out into the garden in the hope of photographing comet Ison. I managed a few ‘star’ photographs before the cloud started to play games, the horizon was clear one minute and obscured the next. I’ve yet to check all the photographs for Ison, but I did like this one star pic.

In between looking for Ison I turned the camera towards the Moon.

After a while I watched the clouds more than the stars or Moon, the highlight and shadow play was quite interesting to watch

Fast forward a couple of hours and we’re on our way to collect the animals from their pet hotel and I stopped to take a quick panoramic.

Oh yes, the animals were staying in their hotel as we took a brief trip to Shropshire and while we were there called into Hay-on-Wye…
