Well, another first of the season anyway. Last night (or rather early early this morning) I decided to take a couple of night sky photographs, I was at work so I could not move far (well I could stand at the bottom of the steps at work and still hear the phone ring so that was my range ;-)). Anyway, here’s a couple of night sky shots from Kirkby Stephen signal box, and finally one of the night sky over Kirkby Stephen station.

Another dawn, another photo…
Morning Cloud
I wasn’t going to take the camera on my morning wander, as the rain had been on and off for a while I thought the chances of taking any photographs was slim. In the end I was glad I did take it as the clouds changed constantly from nearly all over grey with splatters of rain, to interesting textures and colours.

Back in 2009 we excitedly placed an order for a sculpture from Weta. Now, we don’t normally go in for large sculptures, but this one was to be of Smaug™ the Golden and was the first piece in John Howe’s and Weta’s range of sculptures from Middle-earth™ The illustration of Smaug™ the Golden by John Howe is probably known by everyone who has read The Hobbit. Now, when I look at an illustration like this, I must admit I didn’t think it would be possible to recreate it in 3 dimensions…
