This morning I was trying to sketch, but inspiration had given me a wide berth so I decided to take a break and go for a wander. As I walked over the small bridge and into the wood I noticed a patch of light and it reminded me of Ted Nasmith’s illustration of Lúthien Tinúviel from J. R. R. Tolkien’s Silmarillion (though most folk that read this website will probably know that anyway ;-)). Anyway, there was no sign of Lúthien when I took this photo, and Beren was obviously off…

I took a different route the other day for my wander, on that wander I noticed a view which I thought “that might make a nice photograph”. There were a couple of drawbacks though, firstly the light was terrible and the air filled with drizzle, secondly and probably more importantly I didn’t have my camera on me. Wandering the lanes and fields this morning I paused to watch this bird wheel above the barley field, all I could hear was the wind rustling the leaves and long grass. The sense of freedom was almost akin to what the bird must feel up there 😉
