Sometimes capturing the moment is impossible, or at least it is for me, this morning the light was changing so quickly you hardly knew where to look as no sooner had you focused and set the exposure than the light had moved on to another part of the Pennines. Today we had a run out in the car but rather than head for the Lakes we turned East and popped up the Pennines; we encountered a lot of scenery which I’m ashamed to say I did not know, and we really need to spend some more time up there.

We had a trip out to the West Coast of Cumbria today, when we left the house the sky was almost clear and the light looked good for a few photographs. As the morning progressed the clouds increased and the light changed, it didn’t stop me attempting a couple of photographs though π Back home the skies cleared as the Sun dropped behind the trees, so I snapped a couple of backlit fern shots to end the day with –

I decided to work from one of my photographs taken during this trip into a watercolour. Here is the reference image – And here is the watercolour – I need to practice a bit more getting a few more layers into the background, but it was an enjoyable painting to work on in the end.
