The only benefit I can see for working silly hours is the sights you see driving too and from work. My journey home this morning was quiet (as most sensible folk were in bed), and the views inspiring. I almost wish I didn’t need to sleep so I could get to painting a misty Shire scene, as it is I’ll post the photographs from my drive home and then crash out for a few hours.

We went in search of the sea at Southport, however it was low tide so we ended up walking and walking and the sea was always out of reach. Quite a long way out of reach actually, we stopped walking after a mile and a half deciding to return when the tide was in again. I did like this image of Julie wandering towards the Sun so made it into a print 😉

The Weeping Window has been on display at Carlisle Castle for a month now and we have been meaning to get up to see it but something has got in the way every time we planned on going. So yesterday we managed to get up to see it, the weather wasn’t brilliant but it was still nice to see it and wander around the castle walls under the poppies.

I sat down to draw Beorn from J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit in his human form meeting Bilbo and Gandalf, so of course I ended up drawing Beorn in bear form, well, these things happen 😉
