Following the pen and ink version of the Troll that sat alone link I decided to attempt something in paint. I quite enjoyed painting the background, well rocks are always interesting to paint, but once the troll was on his seat I felt something wasn’t quite right. So I ended up finishing off the painting in Photoshop by adding the fire and smoke then darkening the left hand side of the image. A good start
Well, it was almost a good start, the thermometer on the car read -7.5C when I jumped in to go shopping this morning, and whilst the car started fine the brakes had decided to freeze on :-/ anyway, the delay in setting off meant I caught the dawn sky over the Pennines 😉

I’ve been playing around with low light levels, or more importantly trying to capture just enough of the light to convey how I see scenes in front of me. I’d been planning on some close up low level still life shots when I noticed how the light was catching Julie as she worked, so I snapped a couple of photographs before she objected 😉
