My ongoing obsession with painting Rivendell, based on Lauterbrunnen, continues 😉 This is version number…. okay I’ve stopped counting, the previous version I finished early December last year is still in the file marked ‘what was I thinking’. What I really need to do in order to paint Rivendell as I see it in my head is to learn French, take six months off work, then move into Lauterbrunnen with a few sketch pads and a gallon or two of paint.

Whether the weather be cold…
Being a bit nerdy at times I decided to make a colour graph of the temperature recordings we’d taken over the year, for each day the colour graduates between the maximum and minimum temperature recorded, the barometric reading for the days has been overlayed. As it’s a bit small to view on this webpage I put a larger version here, there’s also one with rain and wind speeds on here.

I’ve had a piece of Oak burr that I’d wanted to do something different with for a while, every time I picked it up nothing suggested itself, then I decided it would make a nice lid for a small box. As our Silver Wedding anniversary was coming up I made it into a gift for my much better half 😉 the burr had quite a few gaps in the grain so these were filled with powered brass mixed with resin. The sides are made from yew with walnut pegged joints.
