Sketching The Stones

I’ve been trying to use more carbon is my sketches and so I tried, Royal Sovereign Wolff’s Carbon (2B) for a couple of sketches. They’re quite nice to use but hard to get a scan of the finished piece that looks anything like the original 😉 I also tried out the Derwent Artists Sketching Pencil (Midnight) for one of the sketches which was also nice to use but I found it a little waxy. Well then…

A few days ago I noticed my website was no longer online, at first I thought they were doing work on the server or they had issues of some sort. Then I noticed that it was only my website which was missing, or more precisely the directory where my website usually resided was no longer there. To the memory of Celebrían

Many moons ago I started work on an illustration, it was a simple idea, however the execution of the piece took a little longer than anticipated 😉 The theme I was working towards was Statuesque over on John Howe’s website –  so I decided to illustrate the statue placed high above Rivendell to the memory of Celebrían, though the scene shown is many years after the last of the Elves had left for the West so the statue was in a poor state of repair….
