Today we had a run out in the car but rather than head for the Lakes we turned East and popped up the Pennines; we encountered a lot of scenery which I’m ashamed to say I did not know, and we really need to spend some more time up there.

Clouds & Ferns
We had a trip out to the West Coast of Cumbria today, when we left the house the sky was almost clear and the light looked good for a few photographs. As the morning progressed the clouds increased and the light changed, it didn’t stop me attempting a couple of photographs though π Back home the skies cleared as the Sun dropped behind the trees, so I snapped a couple of backlit fern shots to end the day with –

I decided to work from one of my photographs taken during this trip into a watercolour. Here is the reference image – And here is the watercolour – I need to practice a bit more getting a few more layers into the background, but it was an enjoyable painting to work on in the end.
