Drops and reflections
Spring can’t be far away now, or at least I’m hoping it’s not far away, the snowdrops in the lane behind the house make me think spring is only round the corner π Our morning wander was well timed, more by chance than anything else, anyway as we reached the end of the pond the Sun was nicely positioned for a photograph.

Hugo rescued some ice from the pond today, well, he rescued lots of ice from the pond – for some reason he breaks the ice, drags chunks to the bank then goes back for more. Anyway, one of the pieces he rescued looked quite interesting when held up to the light with all the trapped air bubbles glinting in the light.

Following the pen and ink version of the Troll that sat alone link I decided to attempt something in paint. I quite enjoyed painting the background, well rocks are always interesting to paint, but once the troll was on his seat I felt something wasn’t quite right. So I ended up finishing off the painting in Photoshop by adding the fire and smoke then darkening the left hand side of the image. For those that don’t know it the poem (which inspired this painting) it starts… Troll sat alone on…

Well, it was almost a good start, the thermometer on the car read -7.5C when I jumped in to go shopping this morning, and whilst the car started fine the brakes had decided to freeze on :-/ anyway, the delay in setting off meant I caught the dawn sky over the Pennines π
