When I returned home this morning I was a little disappointed, I had intended having spent a while on the way home stopping off at various places for misty morning photographs. Sadly the weather wasn’t really suitable – being thick fog and black ice on the smaller roads. Reflected Light
I took some photographs of the Moon yesterday illuminating some mist in the valley, and I found myself thinking about how much the Sun influences our lives. After all the light from the Moon illuminating that mist originated in the Sun, the light itself has a very different property when it’s reflected from the Moon. I’m not talking about the physical make up of the reflected light itself, I’m talking about the way Moonlight gives a distinct magical feel to a scene, especially when you add mist into the mix…

Driving home from work this morning I became more and more frustrated, the Sun had not crept above the Pennines and the valleys were filled with mist, with the odd tree poking it’s head out of the mist like a lone sentinal to the morning. Why was I frustrated, well I’d been too stupid to take a camera to work with me last night and the phone wasn’t really going to be up to the task. This morning I went for a wander with the dog and the camera fully intending to take some reference photographs of horses. As I wandered along the lane I became more and more distracted with the mist and the leaves and the way the moisture clung to everything. I did take a horse photograph but it was in the end a distraction to the magic that mist can create.
