Memory box time, this one was made as a wedding gift for my niece, and was made from three different woods – Walnut for the two side pieces, Ash for the front and back pieces, then Oak for the lid. For the hinges I used some more of the Walnut, no metal fixing were used on the actual box, though screws were used to fix the name plate inside the lid.

Far too many years ago I bought a piece of wood, it wasn’t a large piece of wood but it had very nice grain, it was labelled Tiger Striped Oak not one I’d heard of but I thought would make a nice box lid. It took a bit longer than I anticipated but I’ve finally managed to finish the two side tables to go with the coffee table that was completed in August. I only took a photo of one, but then the other just the same 😉

We decided we should have some side tables and a coffee table to match the Morris chair from 2015, since the chair I’ve moved workshops and house 😉 It’s taken a while to get to this stage, not having a great deal of spare time to get into the workshop but after much whittling of large oak boards, the coffee table is now finished.
