Sunsets and Stained Glass

Yesterday I took a few photographs of the Sun as it set behind a small Oak tree, but as I was tired I decided to leave the photographs until this morning to sort out. So, this morning I uploaded the photographs to the computer and looked at the thumbnails.

As I browsed the thumbnails I was struck by how much they reminded me of stained glass, with that thought lodged somewhere in my head I brought up photoshop and started to play, until I created a ‘Sunset Stained Glass’.

There are not many photographs this would work with really, but I quite like the effect this one gave. Here is the original photograph for comparison.

We Failed

We failed at building a scarecrow, for some odd reason we attracted more crows than we scared….

The Summoning

Another digital piece (I’ll work with real paint soon) this one is of an old priest summoning his mob of crows for war.

Station 3

This is going to look a little odd, but stay with me a moment ;-) I had a random idea for an illustration to submit to the Wanderers theme over at john-howe.com – Now the idea was fairly simple in my little head, but needed a little bit of an explanation. I tried a couple of times to write a simple piece to go with it and ended up more frustrated than satisfied with the outcome, and so I decided to write a short story to accompany the illustration. I decided to post the short story after the first draft, mainly because it was more of a release from writers block and frustration than an attempt to write anything polished and finished. So if there are any errors, I’m sorry ;-)

High Snockrigg (again)

Following the sketch of High Snockrigg and Others (link) I decided to try a small watercolour of the scene.

It became a little frustrating not getting chance to properly do all the trees as I kept pausing to do other things, next time I may do the smaller trees differently, but generally I thought the result was acceptable.
