This was made as a gift for a friend, the shorter sides are purple heart and the front, lid and back pieces are maple – the front piece has a purple heart wave running through it. This was the first one I made using barrel hinges, which was nervous work as when I tried one on a sample of wood it was a one way process, the hinge went in but they don’t come out again (so there could have been a lot of swearing if it went wrong at that point).
