A Hobbits Deco Pipe
This month over on the John Howe forum the theme of the month is Deco… ..adding beauty to function. While the functional aspect of the object remains, the representational side of ti is considered as an art form in itself. So I decided to paint a Hobbit’s pipe which had been carved with an ivy leaf pattern around the bowl.

Given it is supposed to be summer we’ve had far too many cloudy grey sky days recently. I’d been hoping for some nice summer days to get out with the camera and sketch book, and whilst there have been some nice days they’ve been too few for my liking π So, given the weather wasn’t playing nice I decided to make the best of it and try to use the clouds and patchy light to my advantage.
