Painting Niggle

Trying to think of painting leaves without thinking about Niggle (as in Niggle from Tree & Leaf by J. R. R. Tolkien) and his tree is almost impossible for me, and so when I saw the theme of the month was Into the Green over at John Howe’s website my mind turned to Niggle and what he would paint. For some reason I did not want to paint his tree, or a segment of it, but illustrate him painting part of the tree. I probably spent more time on the leaves than I should have done, but it was quite a fun painting to do so I’m not complaining ;-)

More Loneliness

Okay, I had to have another go at the Lonely Mountain, I’m still not convinced about what I’ve done and feel there are parts which are okay and others that are just plain wrong :-) Before I start the next version I may build it in clay to see how it looks in three dimensions, the river is not bubbling enough, it needs some more rocks and life about it. Anyway, this version is done with for now…

The Lonely Mountain Again!

The run around…

I’m on the run around, every day gets shorter as the list of things I try to fit into the day gets longer and longer. When the night shifts appear, working suddenly takes up more than 50% of the day, with 12 hours spent actually working and nearly an hours travel either side adds up to no time at all to do what I really want to. Thankfully the end of nights is in sight and I’ve some leave scheduled which may give me time to stretch some paper and actually paint something which is really what I want to do right now. In reality the run around will likely continue in ever decreasing circles to a point where I’ll look like a dog chasing it’s own tail.

So I hope very soon to have time to paint and perhaps a little time to write something – when I say write something I don’t mean a paragraph or two here, I mean a chapter or two of something new ;-)

In the third person…
Someone suggested I write something about myself 'in the third person' to head up this column, but what do you write? Perhaps it would be better if someone else really did write this part - so if you know me feel free to write my introduction ;-)
