Out and About…
Today we had a run out and visited a few lakes and fells, some we’ve seen a few times recently and a few we’ve not seen for years.
Patches of Light and Green
Went for an early morning wander and spent a little bit of time watching the patches of light come and go amongst the trees. It’s quite interesting to watch how quickly things change as the Sun climbs above the horizon creating different patterns as its rays pass through the branches and leaves. Maybe one day I’ll manage a time lapse of it.
The Arrow
Whilst out for a bit of a wander this morning I noticed this lump of stone beside the lane, now I’ve walked along this lane nearly every day for a decade or so and never noticed the markings on top of the stone -
Now to me, and probably no one else, I immediately spotted an arrow pointing off into the next field. This triggered a few things in my mind, but mainly it started me thinking about who may have carved an arrow in the stone and why. Now, a few hours later the nucleus of a short story is bubbling away somewhere in that grey matter I tend to pass off as a brain
Morning walks…
We went for an early walk this morning, well we left the car as it was starting to get light and headed for the memorial to Charles II where he supposedly stopped and drank water with his troops – that was the plan, however the monument was not where we thought it was and we spent a while wandering about before returning to the car
