During our trip away we discovered that our site wasn’t too far from Kelmscott Manor, the Cotswold retreat of William Morris and Co. The Manor is only open a couple of times a week so we decided to reschedule a few things so we could fit it into our trip. We had the opportunity to visit the Tolkien: Maker of Middle-Earth exhibition at the Bodleian, Oxford earlier this month as we were visiting the area (okay, we visited Oxfordshire because the exhibition was on ;-)). I had read various reviews online both from friends and in the media and was rather keen to see it for myself. The Weeping Window has been on display at Carlisle Castle for a month now and we have been meaning to get up to see it but something has got in the way every time we planned on going. So yesterday we managed to get up to see it, the weather wasn’t brilliant but it was still nice to see it and wander around the castle walls under the poppies.

We had a week away to recharge batteries and relax for a bit, during our week away we managed a few trips to see new sights and wander for a while in the woods.
